Project Summary

Sood iPad image

Client is a small business owner who wanted a new e-commerce site for the launch of her brand. She is a UI/UX designer and already had high fidelity mock-ups ready to go and required a developer to implement for her. Given the complexity of the effects and a desire to keep the site maintenance/costs low, it was decided that I would build out a microservices architecture that utilized a custom storefront, alongside headless Shopify for the CMS and checkout.

The Technicals

Netlify home page
Shopify home page
Gatsby home page

Built on Gatsby, deployed on Netlify, and powered by Shopify.

Gatsby, a React-based open source framework, allowed us the flexibility to create the unique, lookbook inspired style the client had provided in their mock-ups while providing us structure to easily template reusable components and add additional animations to give the site a more luxurious feel. With its vast support of Gatsby built applications and integrated CI/CD pipeline to GitHub, Netlify was a strong choice for deployment platform. Shopify provided a low cost inventory management system, an intuitive UI that the client could easily navigate, and a robust Storefront API to pull products, prices, and checkout URL.
